The Rise of Whoop Fitness Trackers & How to Increase your Recovery Score
Fitness trackers like Whoop and Fitbit have gained a lot of popularity in the last few years with athletes and workout enthusiasts alike. People have discovered that keeping tabs on your fitness is one of the best ways to hit your goals. Different trackers vary in what’s being measured, but some of the most common metrics include heart rate, calories burned, activity duration, and sleep.
CrossFit Games athlete Noah Ohlsen’s favorite fitness tracker is Whoop, which has a simple and easy-to-use design. The Whoop wristband syncs with an app on your phone where you can review your personal stats. While a lot of data is being recorded, the interface interprets most of the data for you so there’s not a lot of analysis required.
How Does the Whoop Work?
Whoop uses elevations in your heartrate throughout the day to calculate your Day Strain score. The Day Strain score will range anywhere from 0 to 21, with 21 being the highest level of strain and 0 being the lowest. The higher that number gets, the more you’ve taxed your body – which in turn triggers the app to tell you it’s time to start thinking about recovery.
The Recovery score is calculated based on your sleep and other things you do throughout the day. There’s a journal feature that allows you to manually add in activities and the app will correlate them with increases or decreases in your Recovery score. Scores can range from 0% all the way up to 100%.
How Can I Increase my Whoop Recovery Score?
We all know how to increase your Day Strain score, you simply do more taxing activities during the day and don’t focus enough on recovery. The more difficult question is, how do you improve your recovery? Noah says that the days he gets 100% on his recovery score is when he does things like use the Marc Pro, eat healthy, and get to bed at a time that allows him to sleep long and deep.
“I know in fact on the days that I spend time using that Marc Pro to help flush my muscles out the next day I have an increase in my recovery score.”
Marc Pro is a recovery tool used by Crossfit Games athletes like Noah Ohlsen and over 100 pro teams. For those who want to take their recovery seriously, Marc Pro is a must. The device features exclusive technology that creates non-fatiguing muscle activation, which is scientifically proven to enhance each stage of the muscle recovery process. Marc Pro makes it easy to recover faster, perform at your best, and keep your body healthy.
