The 2015 CrossFit Games Structure
The CrossFit Games label can refer to the entire three stage series of CrossFit season events, but it can also refer to the final event, which will take place in Carson, California this year.
- Stage 1: The Open- includes completing a different workout each week for five continuous weeks. This is held in early spring and is open to anyone over the age of 14. The top athletes from each of the 17 regions qualify for the next stage.
- Stage 2: Regionals- top athletes from 2-3 combined regions compete in a three day event. There are eight Regional events held over a period of 3 weekends in May.
- Stage 3: The Games- the top 5 athletes from each of the eight Regional events move on to compete in this final stage where they go head to head for the title of “Fittest in the World”.
The CrossFit Games include some of the most challenging workouts in the entire world, simply because of the nature of the competition. Making it to the final round of the season, after the CrossFit Open and CrossFit Regionals, means that an athlete has come out victorious against hundreds of thousands of competitors all across the world. From these competitors, the fittest 40 men and 40 women in the world get the honor of participating in the CrossFit Games, which will take place on July 21-26 this year.
How to Prepare for the CrossFit Games
Anyone who wants to have a chance of coming out victorious against the fittest men and women in the entire world has to be at the top of their game. To become a champion at the CrossFit Games requires years of dedicated training to chisel a body that is designed to handle all types of functional fitness challenges.
