Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Recovery

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport where athletes focus on using proper technique and leveraging their bodies to defend themselves against larger opponents.  Athletes use numerous chokes, hold, locks, and joint manipulations to gain the superior position and win the match.  However, these ground-fighting moves and stand-up maneuvers that allow athletes to come out ahead can also lead to injuries and other problems, so it’s important to make sure the body is recovered and conditioned properly for each match.

The 2015 US Open Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournament took place on October 24-25 in Santa Cruz, California.  A day after the competition ended, we received an email from one of the athletes, Ryan Bushey, who competed in the Male-Master 1- White belt- Ultra Heavy division.  Ryan gave some great feedback about how he used Marc Pro for recovery in the days leading up to the tournament.

“While preparing for the 2015 BJJ Tour US Open, I tweaked my lower back 6 days before competing. Having done this before and going through rehab, I’ve learned of the great benefits of EMS.

On Tuesday morning, I called and ordered the Marc Pro Plus and had it shipped overnight. When it arrived on Wednesday morning I opened the box to find a fully charged machine ready to go to work.

Over the next 4 days, I was able to have multiple treatments, using the product guide for reference.

On Sunday evening, I was able to compete and felt great. Even though I lost my match, I truly believe I would not have been able to compete had I not received the benefits of using the Marc Pro Plus.”

With any sport, injuries are a possibility.  It’s always a good idea to make sure your body is fully recovered before heading into another training session or competition to maintain proper body mechanics and prevent overuse injuries.  Conditioning muscles so they can do more before they break down is also a great way to keep your body at its prime.
