What You Need to Know about the CrossFit® Games

crossfit gamesThe CrossFit Games are quickly approaching, but what exactly does that mean? The Marc Pro team has the guide to the top questions about the CrossFit Games so that you can flex your CrossFit knowledge heading into the biggest event of the year.

1. Question: What Exactly Is CrossFit?

CrossFit is defined as “performing functional movements that are constantly varied at high intensity.” These exercises include cardiovascular exercises, agility, balance, flexibility, power, and speed.

2. Question: How Do You Qualify for the CrossFit Games?

There are three stages in the qualification process, starting with the Open stage. Scores are submitted from the Open 5-week, 5-workout competition, and top athletes from the 17 regions qualify for stage number 2—regionals. Regionals are a live, three-day competition that are held in May over three weekends. Top athletes from the regions combine and battle for five spots to qualify for the CrossFit Games.

3. Question: How Are Events Scored?

The scale for the events is considered “relative.” This means that athletes are awarded based on how they place in relation to peers in the event, not on total performance in that event. The CrossFit Games includes the top 40 fittest men and women.
