Dr. Mark Kovacs Talks Tennis Injuries, Recovery, and Training
Dr. Mark Kovacs (PhD, FACSM, CSCS*D, CTPS, MTPS, USPTA, PTR) has a credential list a mile long. Performance physiologist, researcher, strength and conditioning coach, author, speaker, and trainer of champions is just the beginning. Formerly, he led the Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science, and Coaching Education departments for the US Tennis Association (USTA) and was the Director of the Gatorade Sports Science Institute. Currently, Mark is the Executive Director for the International Tennis Performance Association (ITPA) and coach/trainer to some of the best tennis players in the world. To say he’s accomplished would be an understatement.
“Nutrients in, waste out- that’s applicable to the number one player in the world all the way down to the person playing at the local club who plays very infrequently”
Mark is a big proponent for recovery. No matter what your athletic level is, anyone can benefit from improving and speeding the recovery process. When your body is fully recovered, you can prevent overuse injuries and promote good biomechanics. Movements that usually are not an issue become altered when you are fatigued, which means you start using different muscles groups to compensate for the other body parts that are sore or tired. Good biomechanics are also important for making sure the correct muscles are being trained so athletes can get better and the sport they love. Plus, when you can eliminate soreness and fatigue before training or another match, you’re able to play better and give 100%. Need another reason to devote more time towards recovery? All the gains from the training you do come during the recovery process when muscles rebuild themselves and become stronger. Improve the recovery process and you will get the most out of all the hard work you put in.
“Using Marc Pro allows us to really limit the chance of those fatigue related issues by helping us speed recovery and be closer to an optimal level day in and day out. It also allows athletes to use it themselves, it doesn’t need a lot of expertise to apply the information.”
Marc Pro is very easy and comfortable to use. You get all the recovery, conditioning, and performance benefits in one setting- and best of all it feels good. If you are a tennis player, or any athlete looking to speed muscle recovery, improve conditioning, and perform better, try incorporating Marc Pro into your training routine. “We all want to get better, we all want to use tools that can help us do the sport that we love and also be able to do it for a lifetime”
